    "Foggy Winter's Morn - June 1988."

A black and white study of the stately Raintrees that, along with Eucalyptus and Melaleuca trees, dominate the landscape of Anderson Park, Townsville. The Park was named in 1932 in appreciation of the work of William Anderson (1845 - 1935), City of Townsville's first Curator of Parks (1878 - 1934). In the same year the earliest recorded plantings occurred. An arboreum, the park also contains fine specimens of tropical tree ferns, palms and pandanus. Pandanus are an ancient plant that I always marvel at. Dinosaurs consumed their fruit that has remained pretty much unchanged in form from 270 million years ago! This was shot on black and white film. I reckon it's one those scenes that look better in b/w because it changes the atmosphere or mood, often towards something more unreal or dreamlike. It can cut thru to the deeper character in a scene or portrait. Colour is more real - which is fine if that's what you want to convey. But it can also distract from the essence of the subject.
