“Ghost Gums at Night, Woodleigh Station, North Queensland.”
Eerily shrouded in mists of smoke from a distant burning off, these ghost gums rise like botanical skeletons seeking to haunt the night.
They stand by a magnificent water course running through Woodleigh Station, 22 kilometres outside Ravenshoe in north Queensland.
This was our powered caravan camping spot on this fabulous property that hosts visitors who seek a taste of the outback and cattle station life and its wonderful hospitality, but which is just a 5 hour drive from Townsville or 2 from Cairns.
A range of cabins, bunkhouses and unpowered waterside camping spots are available.
For you astronomy buffs like me - not its normal colour I noticed, Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, is yellowed by the atmospheric smoke.
