"View from Mt. Stuart Townsville towards Mt.Elliot and Cape Cleveland, North Queensland."

Best viewed enlarged. This is a pano stitch of five images from 2004, using modern editing apps to enhance them. The foundations of the Korea Zinc's Sun Metals refinery are visible in left field. The view is largely unchanged since then. (Photoshop 22/2021, Luminar 4, Aurora HDR, Topaz DeNoise AI, Nik ColorEfex Pro 4.)

    "Lady Slipper Vine."

Seen recently climbing vigorously over parts of the Atherton Tablelands, Queensland, this plant is well named. I dropped the main elements of an iPhone snap on to a painted background that echoes the red brown flower and its yellow accents.

    "Morning After."

Lorikeet recovering after a night on the mango juice. Along with fruit bats, they strip the neighbourhood's and my mango trees. This one sat paralytic, eyes shut tight, on the birdbath for about 10 minutes. The phrase "pissed as a parrot' later sprung to mind. (Suburban Townsville, Nikon D850, Tamron 150-600mm lens.)

    "Rainbow Lorikeet Portrait."

This bird held still and chewed a gum nut while I set up my easel and slapped some paint on a canvas to capture it. The result was crap so I rendered a photograph of it in Photoshop instead, using Real Paint Fx scripts, patterns and tools and much tweaking thereof. (Suburban Townsville, Nikon D850, Tamron 150-600mm lens, Nik ColorEfex Pro 4 - lens vignette.)

  • "Blue-faced Honeyeater."

    "Blue-faced Honeyeater."

The Blue-faced Honeyeater is a large black, white and golden olive-green honeyeater. Its striking blue skin around the yellow to white eye makes hard to mistake. Photographed in suburban Townsville and reworked in Topaz Studio 2 - rendered with some impressionist brushwork and differential masking-in of my original photo.

  • "Scale Model Holden FC."

    "Scale Model Holden FC."

The FC was manufactured in Australia by Holden from 1958 to 1960. It was a face-lifted model that replaced the FE. It boasted an optional heater, indicators, reversing lights, windscreen washers and demister, first introduced on the FE that had replaced the FJ in mid-1956. (More FC-FE history here: https://www.whichcar.com.au/.../holden-fe-holden-fc-history Original photo of 30 cm long De-Luxe Red Cabs model taken in local Holden dealer and rendered using Illustrated Sketch Painting brushes, patterns and actions in Photoshop 22/2021.)

  • "Seaplane Lands on Planet Tomato."

    "Seaplane Lands on Planet Tomato."

Caught up in a time warp over the Bermuda Triangle back in the late 60's, this Grumman Sea Cat seaplane was flung instantaneously into the future and is seen here about to land on a calm inlet on planet Tomato. Some Tomatotians pronounce it "Tom-ay-toe", while on the other side of the planet they pronounce it "Tom-ar-toe".
