Sea Eagle Goes Fishing for its Nestlings.

Early morning sees this white-belllied sea eagle set out for the Hinchinbrook Channel in search of barramundi that abounds in its waters. Photographed from the vantage point of the old tearooms off Highway 1 south of Cardwell. Uninhabitated Hinchinbrook Island, Australia’s largest island national park, rises to meet the sun.

Betty-Rose - Autochrome Simulation. 1.

Autochrome was an earlier colour process introduced in 1907 by the French Lumière brothers. Their images were created by combining layers of microscopic dyed potato grains (red, green and blue with optional black grains filling the spaces) on a glass plate. They turned their attention to still photograhy after earlier inventing the first viable moving film camera+projector and opened the world’s first cinema theatres. The first multi-reel, feature length film was Australia’s ‘The Story of the Kelly Gang.’ It opened in a Melbourne theatre on Boxing Day, 1906. Exposure X6 app plus a separate propritary filter creating a Fuji Superia film effect.

"Nandroya Falls, North Queensland."

These falls drop 50 metres from the plateau above into what many regard as one of our best swimming holes in the north. Access is via a scenic 6.6 km loop track from the Henrietta Creek parking and camping area just off the Pamerston Highway access to the Atherton Tablelands. Well worth the hike! A less scenic but shorter route is via a left fork in the track - 1.5 km/30 minutes one way - and passes the small Silver Falls alongside the track. "Planet Purtaboi"

A tiny planet modelled on north Queensland's Purtaboi (or Mound) Island that is visible from Dunk Island and Mission Beach on the mainland. So tiny is this planet that it is just a short swim from the day side to the night side! Or you could just wait two hours for midnight to become midday. (Polar projection of original image blended with another image of the night sky.)
